Posted in Uncategorized on 02/28/2009 04:20 am by PeterThe digital age, this is the term used to describe the current age we are in today; the age built around the invention of the computer and the World Wide Web. With the use of Web pages or websites, people can access and share information in various forms of media such as text, videos and images. It has revolutionized the way people gather information as a person can find what he or she is looking for in a matter of minutes or even seconds with the use of the World Wide Web or also known as the internet.
The internet was first started by Tim Burners-Lee in 1989 while he worked for an organization known as the European Organization for Nuclear Research. He had the idea of devising a computer system which would allow researchers of the organization to efficiently share information with one another. By 1992, Tim Burners-Lee served a primary role in setting forth standards in creating web domains, websites and the use of HTML which led to the internet as we know it right now. It serves as the platform of information and communication; now it is used by hundreds of million people around the globe.
The success of the World Wide Web has led to the creation of web blogs; now more commonly known simply as blog. Blogging is an active participation in a web page of the person’s design wherein he or she would post comments regarding certain issues, topics or recent developments using text, images and/or videos. Simply put, a blog is a blank space in the World Wide Web where a person can publish his or her opinion; it is a sort of virtual diary which other people can read and comment on. It is currently used by a lot of people to express their feelings and used by other institutions to accurately determine the views of people regarding certain issues such as an ongoing war or upcoming presidential elections. Lastly, in the case of internet marketing, it can also be used by companies to increase their revenues.
Blogging has also created an opportunity for some companies or organizations to increase their revenues by using blogs to increase traffic to their websites. This can increase revenues by either of two ways; first it can act as an advertisement wherein the blog will entice the reader to visit the website of the company and in turn, generate interest in the company’s product or service. Another way to increase revenue through increased traffic by blogging is that the more traffic a website gets, the higher its value becomes. A higher valued website would mean that other websites will be willing to advertise there and pay good money for it, which is an excellent internet marketing strategy.
Either for expressing one’s emotions, opinions and feelings or using it as a source for additional revenue, blogging has become part of popular culture. Even though there are no real statistics regarding this, we can say for sure that there are millions of people who are currently involved in maintaining blogs; this has taken the use of the World Wide Web to a whole new level.
Remember that the internet can be addictive, so it’s always a good idea to keep yourself healthy if you plan on sitting in front of the computer for long periods of time. Make sure you don’t have any health problems like yeast infection or diabetes. Before you take health advice from anyone, always remember to see a doctor.
